Young actors to perform storybook tales

The Cary Park District's Children's Theatre Company of Cary Junior will host two performances at 3 p.m. and at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 19. Both performances will be held at Cary Junior High 2109 Crystal Lake Road, Cary.

The Company will be performing two of the three acts from The Princess Plays written by Colleen Neuman.

In "The Princess and the Princess," a poor, polite princess and a rich, rude princess meet on a narrow mountain path and neither will move to let the other pass. After a riddle proves both princesses are "real," it is the poor princess who graciously steps aside -- not because she has to, but because she chooses to.

In "Twice Upon a Time," meet some of your favorite story book princesses from Snow White to Beauty as the spells of three whimsical witches go awry turning frogs into princes and the princesses into frogs.

Eighteen young actors in second through sixth grades have been rehearsing since January. The performance is directed by Becky Chappell and Bob Jenski.

Tickets can be purchased at the Cary Park District Community Center front desk for $3 per person or at the door for $4 per person. Children 2 years and younger are free.
