Roselle police hunt for snatch-and-grab robber
Roselle police are investigating a report of a snatch-and-grab robbery involving a gas station clerk en route to make a bank deposit.
Officers were called to the Shell station at 4 W. Irving Park Rod at noon Thursday and arrived to find the clerk in the parking lot. He said he was on his way to make a bank deposit when a man ran up to him, grabbed the bag out of his hand and kept running, Sgt. John Lawson said.
Police described the suspect as male, between 25 and 30 years old, 5 feet 3 inches tall, 145 to 155 pounds and wearing black jeans.
Canine units helped search the area to no avail. They tracked the suspect's scent for about two blocks to a street where the trail ended, which means the robber likely got into a car and drove away, Lawson said.
Roselle police also locked down Lincoln Academy, which is south of the station, for an hour.
