Baseball

April camp: Elmhurst Youth Baseball, Elmhurst Extreme Baseball and Fastball USA are teaming up for a spring throwing/pitching camp. The camp will be run by a Fastball USA instructor with assistance from Elmhurst Extreme 12-year-old team and Blackbelt pitching students.

The camps for ages 7-12 will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. April 11 and 4 to 6 p.m. April 12 at Fastball USA, 137 Diversey Ave., Elmhurst. The $60 cost includes a camp T-shirt. For more information or a registration form, contact Kevin Ryan at (630) 359-3126 or kpryan26@comcast.net.

Cheerleading

National title: Action All Stars, a competitive cheerleading team from Barrington, had its season finale March 14 to 16 at the Xtreme Spirit Nationals in the Wisconsin Dells. All the teams that attended must have qualified at local events. The competitions take place in Illinois, Michigan, Texas and Indiana and Ohio.

The Jr. Red team took an Xtreme Spirit National title home for the third year in a row. The team is composed of 20 11- to 14-year-old girls. The team is coached by Ray Zamora, Jackie DiMonte and Patty DiMonte.

The Mini and Youth Blue squads each placed second, the Youth Red squad placed fourth, and the Junior Blue and Senior squads placed third.

Team members are Ally McLaughlin, Brittany Smith, Christy Roney, Courtney Blum, Ingrid Palmer, Jacqueline Barry, Jenna Shaxted, Kara Priebe, Katie Ferrara, Katlyn Dweil, Kayley Koter, Marcy Toni, MaryAnn McAndrews, Melissa Mersch, Michelle Toni, Samantha Jordan, Sarinna Fisher, Tara Kane, Taylor Hamontree and Yumiko Siewenie.

Fishing

Members wanted: Midwest Bassbusters, a bass fishing club, seeks new members at any level of experience. The group fishes one weekend a month, April through October. Summer camps: The Chicago Bears Youth Football Camps feature week-long full-day programs focusing on technique and enjoyment for all football positions. The camp will be taught by professional educators, along with former Chicago Bears Mickey Pruitt, Kris Haines and Wendell Davis. Chicago Bears youth camps offer comprehensive skill instruction while maintaining a 10:1 student to instructor ratio. The camps will be held this summer at:

Golf

Couples league: The Friday night couples "fun golf" league seeks players. The league plays at the Mount Prospect Golf Club from May through August with tee times starting at 5:20 p.m. There are weekly themes and an end-of-the year banquet. Ladies league: The Palatine Ladies 9-Hole Golf League will hold its Spring Kick-Off meeting at 7 p.m. April 7 at the Palatine Hills Golf Course clubhouse, 512 W. Northwest Hwy., Palatine. For more about the meeting, call (847) 359-4020.

Mixed golf league: The Monday twilight mixed "fun golf" league seeks players. The league plays at Old Orchard Country Club, May through August, with tee times starting at 4:15 p.m. Weekly play is not mandatory, and discounted greens fees are available for Prospect Heights nonresidents. There will be contests each week, and an annual tournament in September at another course with cash prizes.

Soccer

Holiday tournament: Grove United Soccer Association, a non-for-profit organization, will hold an annual soccer tournament May 23 to 26 at Willow Stream Park. The association wants to raise money for scholarships to give less fortunate kids an opportunity to play soccer at a competitive level.

The cost for the Memorial Day Shootout is U8-U11, $425 and U12-U19, $475.
