Wasco book sale

The Wasco Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization will have its eighth annual used book sale from 3:30 to 8 p.m. April 18. Items for sale include books, audio books, CDs, software, videos and DVDs for children and adults. Prices range from 50 cents to $2. The PTO fundraiser will be in the school's community room, at 4N782 School St., which is west of the Randall Road and Route 64 intersection in St. Charles. 'Senior' cats available

Homes for Endangered and Lost Pets will have a cat and kitten adoption drive from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at National City Bank, 2600 E. Main St., St. Charles. The event will include some of the nonprofit agency's "senior" cats as well as kittens and younger adult cats. All animals have had vaccinations, parasite control treatment, spaying or neutering, viral testing and microchipping. Adoption fees vary. Easter Seals plans benefit

Easter Seals DuPage and the Fox Valley Region will sponsor its 30th annual benefit, Gala in the Garden, at 6 p.m. Saturday in the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago. The evening will include dining, dancing to Orchestra 33 and auction items. Shannon Kelly, Easter Seals DuPage and Fox Valley region 2008 youth ambassador, will share her story of being a childhood cancer survivor and how Easter Seals helped her become an independent 13-year-old. Deal on Blackberry Farm

Blackberry Farm history park season passes are on sale now until May 1 at preseason rates. Individual season passes are $20 for residents of all ages and $25 for nonresidents. After May 1, the fees go up by $5. Resident family season pass rates are $85 for four members of the same household. Additional residents are $15 each. Nonresident season pass rates are $100. Children younger than 2 are free. Fox Valley Park District residents can purchase passes online at www.foxvalleyparkdistrict.org or in person at any district community center.
