Allstate's top execs paid millions

NORTHBROOK -- Allstate Corp. gave first-year Chief Executive Thomas Wilson compensation valued at $10.7 million last year while recently departed CEO Edward Liddy got $18.8 million in compensation and $25.4 million in retirement benefits, according to a regulatory filing Wednesday. Liddy, 62, received 8 percent more in compensation last year as chairman than he did in 2006 when he held both top posts before stepping down as CEO at year's end. He remains chairman until the end of this month, when Wilson is set to succeed him as head of the board of directors.
