• Sandra Heyboer of Hoffman Estates, a junior nursing major at Valparaiso (Ind.) University, is a member of a group of students that developed a presentation to provide information on managing a fussy baby, and shaken baby syndrome. Valparaiso nursing students are presenting prenatal showers to mothers in northwest Indiana this spring. They are teaching them how they can raise sons and daughters through a series of educational "showers" during the spring semester.
• Misa Ann Lopez of Schaumburg graduated with a bachelor's degree in social sciences following the Fall 2007 semester at Washington State University in Pullman.
• Samantha Hoover of Schaumburg, a student at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, was named to the Fall 2007 Dean's List.
• Jesse Migdal of Hoffman Estates was named to the fall 2007-08 Dean's List at the University of Dayton in Ohio.
• Peter Sachs Barlow, son of William and Kathleen Barlow of Schaumburg, was named to Dean's List at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, where he is a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences.
• Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., named the following students in the College of Arts & Sciences to the fall 2007 Dean's List.

• The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater announced the following students were named to the Dean's List for the fall 2007 semester.

Schaumburg: Kyle L. Weck, freshman, pre-business, Conant High School graduate.
• Ashley Lynne Fischer of Hoffman Estates, and Christopher Michael DeGrande of Schaumburg were named to the fall 2007-08 Dean's Honor Roll at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb.
• Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis., announced the following students graduated with bachelor's degrees on Dec. 16:

Schaumburg: Bryan Dahlquist, communication studies; John Jeziorski, computer science; James Kellner, biomedical sciences; and Jennifer Piorkowski, Spanish language and literature.
• Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington named the following students to the fall 2007-08 Dean's List:

• Iowa State University in Ames named the following students to the 2007 fall Dean's List:

• Valparaiso University in Indiana named the following students to the fall 2007 Dean's List.
Hoffman Estates: Kimberly Sienkiewicz, senior art major; Elizabeth Payne, junior sociology and criminology major; Sandra Heyboer, junior nursing major; and Leigh Wiedelman, sophomore music education major.
Schaumburg: Sarah Tesch, sophomore biochemistry major; and Kelleen Nicholas, senior Spanish and secondary education major.
• Stephen Mallers from Hoffman Estates, a junior majoring in accounting at Luther College, Decorah, Iowa, was named to the fall 2007-08 Dean's List. Mallers, the son of Timothy and Laura Mallers, is a 2005 graduate of Hoffman Estates High School.
• Julie Hirsch of Hoffman Estates, a student at Hoffman Estates High School, is the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship from the Delta Kappa Gamma Gamma Society, Gamma Gamma Chapter. Hirsch plans to major in education at the University of Illinois at Chicago this fall.
• Jennifer Chua of Schaumburg was chosen as a University Scholar at Illinois State University, Normal, and will receive a University Scholarship, which provides $5,000 for each of four years.
• Brittany Mortensen, daughter of Art and Candi Mortensen of Hoffman Estates, and a sophomore at St. Louis University, was named to the fall 2007 dean's list. Mortensen is majoring in physical therapy.
• Donna Marie Werling, daughter of Mary and Scott Werling of Hoffman Estates, was named to the fall 2007 Dean's List with distinction at Duke University, Durham, N.C. Werling is a 2004 graduate of Fremd High School.
• Sarah White of Hoffman Estates, a freshman majoring in elementary education at Concordia University Wisconsin, Mequon, was named to the fall 2007-08 Dean's List.
• Steve Tomuta of Schaumburg was a member of the Purdue Society of Professional Engineers team that scored its fourth consecutive first-place finish Feb. 23 in the 26th annual regional Rube Goldberg Machine Contest by making a hamburger in the most inefficient way possible. Tomuta is a sophomore mechanical engineering student at Purdue University.
• Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, named the following students to the to the fall 2007 Dean's List.

• Jane M. Song of Hoffman Estates, was named to the Dean's List at Boston University for the fall 2007 semester.
