ECC role change

Elgin Community College's board of trustees recently approved a position change for Gena Glickman, the college's vice president of teaching, learning and student development. Glickman will now work as a special assistant to President David Sam. Glickman will leave ECC in June to head Manchester Community College in Manchester, Conn. Over the next three months, Glickman will focus her attention on "matters of vital importance" to ECC, such as the upcoming accreditation visit by the North Central Association.

3,000 invites, wrong date

Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, based in Barrington and Crystal Lake, recently sent out nearly 3,000 invitations for an upcoming community memorial service -- only to then discover the date was printed incorrectly. The correct information is as follows: The memorial service, held to honor the memory of all loved ones, is scheduled for 7 p.m. April 28 with registration from 6:30 to 6:45 p.m., at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave. in Crystal Lake. The service will include a candle-lighting ceremony as the names of those who have died are read. Following the service, those who attend are encouraged to share stories about their loved ones in an informal setting. Those who attend are asked to bring a photo or other symbol of remembrance to be displayed. To register for the service and add a loved one's name to the memorial program, call the Center for Loss and Hope at (847) 381-5599, ext. 250.
