MCC plans to buy 57 aces for future
McHenry County College officials have their eyes on the future -- in the form of 57 acres adjacent to the campus.
Rather than building on the land now, MCC officials hope to save it for long-term expansion. The campus now encompasses 112 acres.
The college's board of directors recently approved buying the land, known as the Geiger Property, and today will present plans to the Crystal Lake City Council.
This is not related to a controversial proposal to build a health, wellness and athletic complex, which the Crystal Lake Council rejected earlier this winter, said MCC spokeswoman Christina Haggerty. Those plans remain on hold, she said.
Today's meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in Crystal Lake city hall, 100 W. Municipal Complex. Call (815) 459-2020.
