No tobacco sales to minors

All seven Elburn businesses licensed to sell tobacco products followed the law during a Feb. 27 compliance check. Police worked with a 17-year-old decoy agent to make the check. The 100 percent compliance was up from 86 percent in November 2007. Elburn businesses were also found to be 100 percent in compliance during checks in February, June and November 2006. Businesses found to be in compliance Feb. 27 were B.P. Amoco, Elburn Liquors, Emma's Pub and Cantina, Jewel-Osco, Knucklehead's Tavern, Mobil and Valley Liquors. According to Elburn Police Chief James Linane, undercover checks are made two or three times a year. The police department receives "Kids Can't Buy 'Em Here" grants for compliance checks and educational materials each year from the state liquor control commission.
