Driver pleads not guilty
A Crystal Lake man Friday pleaded not guilty to charges he killed four of his friends in a wreck near Huntley while he drove high on marijuana, attorneys said.
Fakir M. Jaffrie is accused of 12 felony and two misdemeanor offenses, including aggravated driving under the influence and reckless homicide in the Sept. 8 crash on Dietrich Road between Brier Hill Road and Route 20.
Also Friday, Kane County prosecutors shared copies of an expert's reconstruction of the crash, said Aurora attorney David Camic.
The 25-year-old was driving a 2003 Infiniti G35 west on Dietrich Road about 3:30 a.m. when he lost control of the car, which went airborne on a hill and hit a tree, police have said.
Zohair Husain of Huntley and Ayush Joshi of Hoffman Estates, both 20, died at the scene. Kumail Husain, 20, of Algonquin, and Henry Onwualu, 19, of Huntley, later died from their injuries.
Jaffrie is free on $75,000 bond and is on electronic home monitoring. Since the crash, he is required to live with his parents and leaves only for doctor visits and to work at his father's vitamin store.
He is due in court again April 10.
