Red light cameras are easy to live with

I have difficulty understanding the opinion of the St. Charles resident that tried to put together his reasons against red light cameras. To answer his demand for stats on accidents, every village and city police department has those statistics if someone asked for them. The law was passed by the state lawmakers to make driving a little easier to turn on a red light after a FULL stop, IF the traffic allows, and there are NO pedestrians at the intersection. This sounds cut and dried to me.

Now we have drivers who complain that they might be caught. Is a law (authorizing red light cameras) harsh because it inconveniences a consistently ignorant driver when it may prevent an accident or save a life? Most towns would be happy if the system just pays for itself while making driving safer for the rest of us, because that is the intent, safety for our citizens and children on our streets. This is not an intrusion into anyone's life if they just obey the law.
