Bartlett man in critical after crash on Elgin-O'Hare
A 27-year-old Bartlett man remains in critical condition at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove after crashing his car on the Elgin-O'Hare Expressway Friday afternoon.
Illinois State Police officials said Adam S. Carr is suffering from injuries to the head, face, chest and legs.
Multiple lanes of the expressway were closed periodically after the accident at 4:01 p.m. Friday.
According to Illinois State Police Sgt. A. Pelletier, Carr was heading eastbound, just shy of east of Roselle Road, when his car hit something and spun out of control. The car ended up in the grassy median.
The fire department was called to extricate Carr.
Pelletier said the entire expressway was shut down for 20 minutes about 4:55 p.m. while Life Star medical helicopter was flown to the scene to transport Carr. She said most westbound lanes of the Elgin-O'Hare were reopened at 5:15 p.m.
The one closed eastbound lane was reopened at 5:19 p.m., while the entire expressway was back to operating normally at 5:56 p.m.
Carr was alone in the car, and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
