Elgin

• Police stopped a gray car on Elgin's east side Wednesday evening that had been parked for a long time near a known location where illegal drugs were sold. A plastic bag containing 29.5 grams of cocaine was found under the driver's seat, a police report said. Luis A. Solorzano-Flores, 35, of 481 Addison St., Elgin, was charged with possession of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of a controlled substance, according to a report. Solorzano-Flores also was cited for not having insurance and having an obstructed windshield, police said. He was unable to post a $20,000 bond and was taken to the Kane County jail Thursday morning. His next court appearance is on April 8 at the Kane County Judicial Center.

• A silver-plated revolver was stolen in the past two weeks from a home on the 800 block of Nancy Ann Lane. Police said the gun was an heirloom and had been in the home for more than 40 years.

• A catalytic converter and section of an exhaust pipe was cut from a 1998 Toyota Forerunner that was parked in the National Street Metra parking lot between 8:45 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. Wednesday.

• A laptop computer valued at $900 was stolen between 7 and 8:30 p.m. Wednesday from a home on Oak Ridge Boulevard. Police said the thief entered the home through a basement window.

• A 31-year-old Elgin woman said she returned home around midnight Tuesday to find her residence on the 2400 block of Daybreak Court in disarray. A video camera, two diamond rings, a platinum necklace, old coins, a cell phone and a boom box were among the items missing. A member of the household held a party in the residence and told police she became ill. She said she remembered only that the party got out of hand. The case has been turned over to the major investigations division of the Elgin Police Department.

Huntley

• On March 22, the faceplates of several vending machines at the Factory Shops Mall were found to be pried off. Police said it appeared the thief was trying to gain access to the coins inside but failed.

Kane County

• Hand tools were stolen from the back of a 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck between 5 p.m. Sunday and 6 a.m. Monday. The truck was parked outside a home on Oliver Drive in Rutland Township. The tools were valued at approximately $1,000.

West Dundee

• Last Aug. 17 someone tried to steal copper wiring from Distinctive Dentistry, 712 W. Main St., West Dundee. After a long investigation, police secured a warrant for a teen. He was arrested Wednesday evening. Dallas Selby, 19, of 806 Balmoral Drive, East Dundee, was charged on the warrant with criminal damage to property, according to a report. Selby posted a $500 bond Thursday and was released. He is scheduled to appear in court again April 9 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
