Camp will blast off this summer
The Special Recreation Association of Central Lake County will offer a "Universal Expedition"-themed summer day camp.
The camp will take campers to space and beyond through activities such as crafts, group games, camp songs, field trip adventures and swimming. Groups will be determined by age and ability. SRACLC Day Camp is geared toward children with special needs or those who have better success with smaller groups and more staff supervision. Activities will take place both inside and outside to ensure a well-rounded camp experience.
Camp is available full day, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; morning only, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; or afternoon only, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and will meet Monday through Thursday, June 23 through July 31 at Hawthorn Middle School North, 201 Hawthorn Parkway, Vernon Hills, and the Jones Island Building, 243 Harvey Ave., Grayslake.
Extended care is available at 8 a.m. for early arrivals and until 5 p.m., following the afternoon session, for late pickups. Both youth and teenage groups are offered. Sports Camp, a new T.G.I. Friday program, and an inclusive option in Lake Zurich are also available. The registration deadline is May 27, 2008. For more information, call (847) 816-4866 or visit www.sraclc.org.
