Cary Junior High student scores B-I-G at spelling bee

A huge congratulations goes to 7-Gold Team Cary Junior High student Eric Dolan, for the outstanding poise and skill he demonstrated at the most recent McHenry County Spelling Bee.

Held at McHenry County College on March 5, the county spelling bee enabled 14 students from surrounding schools and districts to continue to compete for the title of champion, and the opportunity to advance to the Scripps National Bee to be held in Washington, D.C. in late May of this year.

After 15 intense rounds and spelling such high-level words as tachometer, taiga, eiderdown, and herpetology, Eric placed second in the competition.

As the first runner-up, he not only earned a great deal of respect from his competitors and spectators, but also gained experience in a competition that is held in high regard throughout the nation.

Everyone at Cary Junior High School is proud of Eric's hard work.
