Gaslight players present 'Lila'

St. Stephen's Gaslight Players will present "Lila of the Pine Barrens" at 8 p.m. April 4, 7 p.m. April 5, 1 p.m. April 6, 8 p.m. April 11 and 7 p.m. April 12 at St. Stephen's Hall, Everett and Spruce streets, Des Plaines. The play, set in the pine barrens country of New Jersey and New York City in the 1890s, tells the story of three conniving scoundrels who are out to cheat a hill country grandma out of her land. Tickets are $12 for adults; $10 for seniors and students and $8 for children. Doors open a half-hour before showtime and tickets will be available at the door. Call (847) 824-2026.

Senior exemption extended

Cook County assessor Jim Houlihan announced that the Senior Freeze exemption application deadline has been extended to April 23. The exemption is available to all Cook County homeowners who were born prior to or in the year 1942 and who have total household incomes of $50,000 a year or less. Eligible seniors must have used their homes as their primary residences and have resided there Jan. 1 of 2006 and 2007. The senior freeze exemption must be applied for annually.

St. Emily hosts fashion show

St. Emily's Women's Club is presenting this year's fashion show "Springtime in Paris" April 11 at the Cotillion in Palatine. Tickets are $40. Menu choices are chicken breast ala champagne or whitefish with lemon and butter sauce. Also includes special raffle, mystery raffle, and split the pot. Fashions by Fashions with Flair.
