Briefs: Dog park in Buffalo Grove
The Buffalo Grove Park District board will hold a public hearing Monday on a proposed dog park that could be built on ComEd right of way at the south end of the parking lot at the Buffalo Grove train station. The public hearing will begin at 7 p.m. in Room 10 at the Alcott Center, 530 Bernard Drive. Feedback can also be giving at the park district Web site at www.bgparkdistrict.org.
Dist. 214 official named
The District 214 school board has approved the appointment of Rosemary Gonzalez-Pinnick to associate superintendent for educational services. Currently, she is the assistant superintendent for teaching and learning and professional development in Aurora West Unit District 129. She will succeed Michael Damyanovich when he retires at the end of the school year. Gonzalez-Pinnick has more than 20 years of administrative experience at various levels of education, including vice principal, principal, district director and assistant superintendent in a comparable-sized district. A New Jersey native, Gonzalez-Pinnick began her educational career more than 25 years ago in Hayward, Calif. She is a Golden Apple Award and Best of the West Award recipient.
Dist. 211 scholarships open
Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211, through the District 211 Foundation, is offering students more than 20 scholarships. Ranging from $500 to $3,000 each, the scholarships are funded through donations, often in memory of a former student or teacher. Many are open to all students living in the district, though some are designated specifically for students attending one specific high school.
