Briefs: Make dinner easy

The Men's Club of the United Methodist Church of Geneva is hosting a spaghetti dinner from 5 to 7:30 tonight at 211 Hamilton St., Geneva. Dinner also will be available for pickup. Dinner is $7 for adults, $3.50 for children and free for children 2 and younger. Families can eat for $21. Proceeds support local organizations, including Lazarus House and Habitat for Humanity. Parade to close streets

Several street closings will take effect at 1:45 p.m. Saturday in downtown St. Charles to make way for the annual St. Patrick's Parade. Route 64 will be closed between Seventh Street and Fifth Avenue. Route 31 will be closed between State and Illinois streets. Drivers will be detoured around the parade route. Roads are expected to open about 4 p.m.

Saturday volunteers sought

Christ Community Church in St. Charles seeks volunteers to participate in its monthly 2nd Saturday program. Volunteers are needed to sort food donations, visit nursing homes and spend time with severely disabled people. Volunteers can become involved by going to one of the church's three locations in St. Charles, DeKalb and Blackberry Creek by 8:30 a.m. on the second Saturday of each month for transportation to a work site. Home repair aid offered

If your home needs repair but finances are tight, Mid-Valley Neighborhood Improvement Association Inc. offers assistance for limited-income homeowners in the cities or townships of Batavia, Geneva and St. Charles. Crafters wanted

Crafters are sought for Santa's CraftShop, a holiday bazaar Nov. 15 at Kaneland Middle and High schools in Maple Park. The show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Partners in International Education and Peer Leadership student organizations.
