Assessment appeal deadline near
State Rep. Rosemary Mulligan reminds homeowners and small business owners of the March 31 deadline for property assessment appeals at the Board of Review for townships that have already taken appeals for this year.
For the first time, for both the city of Chicago and suburban townships, the Cook County Board of Review has reopened a two-week period to hear taxpayer appeals in light of the recent subprime mortgage crisis and downturn in housing prices. Normally, once a township is closed for appeals, taxpayers must wait a year before they can file.
The areas affected by this new filing period in Representative Mulligan's district include properties in Maine, Elk Grove, Norwood Park and Jefferson townships. For more information, call (847) 297-6533.
