Village speeders beware

It appears as if June 1 will be the day Algonquin police launch the village's red light camera program. Officials are now working to secure permits from McHenry County and the Illinois Department of Transportation. The four cameras aim to catch people running red lights at Randall Road and Bunker Hill Drive, Randall and Algonquin roads and at Routes 31 and 62. Violations caught on camera will cost $100 each.

New traffic light on Rt. 31?

Carpentersville officials are mulling the installation of a traffic signal at Route 31 and Commerce Parkway, in front of the Spring Hill Center for Commerce and Industry. The village board approved an agreement with Smith Engineering Consultants for a traffic signal warrant analysis to determine if a signal is needed at this time, or if one could be needed once build-out is completed.

E. Dundee offers college aid

The East Dundee Dynegy Scholarship applications are now available at East Dundee Village Hall, 120 Barrington Ave. This scholarship recognizes superior academic achievements for students who plan on attending college. The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior from high school or a current college student attending at least part-time with a grade point average of 3.2 and who is an East Dundee resident. The recipient will receive $1,000 each year for up to four years. Applications are due on or before April 1. Call (847) 426-2822.
