Trial over bus crash that killed West Chicago man, 3 others, delayed
FORREST CITY, Ark. -- A trial has been delayed for a bus driver charged with four counts of negligent homicide for a crash in Arkansas that killed two people from Illinois, including a West Chicago man.
Court officials say Felix Badillo Tapia's trial will start no sooner than May Fifth, when a new criminal docket begins in St. Francis County. His trial over the November 25th bus crash was to begin Thursday.
Police say 28-year-old Tapia of Brownsville, Texas, was under the influence of amphetamines at the time of the crash and didn't have a required relief driver with him.
Three people on the bus died, including Raul Lopez of West Chicago and Maria Del Carmen Fuentes Vallejo of Plano. The driver of a second vehicle also died.
The bus was carrying 47 people from Chicago to Dallas.
