Wheeling man gets 50 years for Mount Prospect man's murder
A Wheeling man was sentenced to 50 years Friday for the 2005 murder and aggravated kidnapping of a Mount Prospect man.
Bryan A. Gilzene, 26, of 275 Oak Drive, had been charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping and conspiracy to manufacture and distribute drugs in connection with the death of 23-year-old Arturo Cedillo.
Judge Timothy Chambers sentenced Gilzene to half a century for the murder, 30 years for the kidnapping and three years for the drug charges, according to the Cook County state's attorney's office. However, the sentences are concurrent, and Gilzene will have to serve all of the murder sentence.
A Cook County jury found Gilzene guilty of all the charges in January after a trial at the Skokie courthouse.
Police said Cedillo was kidnapped from his Mount Prospect apartment at gunpoint and then forced into the backseat of his car.
He was taken to Park Ridge, where was found dead with a gunshot wound to his head.
Gilzene had fled the area and was traced to Florida, where he was arrested 16 months after the April 5, 2005, murder.
