Rotary Western Charity auction full of surprises

"You never know who will show up at the Western Charity Auction," said Jim Thorpe, president of the Rotary Club of Crystal Lake Dawnbreakers.

"Last year we had the Lone Ranger, dance hall girls -- and who knows who will come this year to raise money for great organizations in town.

"Five organizations will each receive $5,000, while other worthy groups will be given dollars to fulfill many of their projects, dreams and programs" he continued.

The 19th Annual Rotary Western Charity Auction begins at 5:30 p.m. March 1 at Holiday Inn Crystal Lake with both silent and vocal auction items plus a great chuck-wagon dinner.

You will see friends and neighbors dressed as cowboys and Indians as you mix with more than 400 local business people, looking to have a good time while helping to make a positive difference in the community.

Bid on the Restored 1942 RCA Model 29K Superhetorodyne Radio, lovely jewelry selections, themed baskets (wine, beer, Starbucks, "Chick Flick", Ravinia, etc.) -- plus a pool party for kids, Italian buffet for 12, great golf packages and more interesting new items.

Tickets to the event are $75; you also may purchase a $100 raffle ticket, with $10,000 as the prize. Only 250 tickets will be sold. Call Greg at (815) 459-2000 or go to Home State Bank, 611 S. Main St., Crystal Lake.
