No vote on Streamwood impound fee
For the second time this month, the Streamwood village board Thursday delayed a decision on a controversial vehicle impound fee because not every member was there. The full board intends to vote on the fee, which would help pay for new fire and police personnel, on March 6. While the police department was aiming for an April 1 start date for the $500 impound fee, its likely implementation may now be closer to May 1, Village Manager Gary O'Rourke said. O'Rourke and Police Chief Alan Popp recommended against the fee during budget hearings last fall. Trustees were divided but ultimately voted unanimously, if grudgingly, to put it in the budget.
