Join the Zonta Club of St. Charles-Geneva-Batavia at an evening reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. March 13 at Private Bank, 501 W. State Street, Suite 101 in Geneva.

This is a chance to open doors to friendships and associations with other executives; share a commitment to enhance the status of women worldwide; provide community service to individuals and their families; and raise funds to support important local and international service projects.

• The club will also have a panel of professionals discussing "Breaking the Silence on Domestic Abuse" from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Baker Community Center, 101 S. Second St. in St. Charles.

The panel will include: Linda Healy, executive director of Mutual Ground Inc. in Aurora; Gretchen Vapner, executive director of the Community Crisis Center in Elgin; Elizabeth Lovig, Kane County Assistant State's Attorney; detective John Cebulski of Aurora Police Department; and Judge Marmarie Kostelny 16th Judicial Court, Domestic Abuse.

The Elias Kent Kane Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 7 p.m. March 4 at the Batavia Public Library, 10 South Batavia Ave. for the program "Early Women Along the Fox River."

The next meeting of the Kane County Genealogical Society will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the first floor meeting room of the Geneva History Center, 113 S. 3rd St.

The guest speaker for the evening will be Craig Pfannkuche, who will present "Excavating Grandma's Privy for Family History Data." Spend an evening with this entertaining, expert amateur archaeologist as he explains why and how to research the "family" outhouses for historic information and insight.

Batavia chapter of Bachelor 'N' Bachelorettes Square Dancing Club is dancing in St. Charles every second and fourth Friday from 8 to 10:30 p.m. at the Free Methodist Church, 3rd and Walnut St. near Route 64 and Route 31.

Herb Edwards will call the square dance and Anna and Howard Hoffman will cue the round dancing March 14. Dave Sutter will call the square dance and Bev Sutter will cue the round dancing March 28.

The Batavia Mothers Club Foundation, BMCF, has announced that applications are now available for its 2008 annual philanthropic donations. Applications are available at www.bataviamothersclub.org or by calling the BMCF phone at (630) 477-0846 to request an application by mail. Completed applications are due by March 1.

Recipients of 2008 funds will be announced in May 2008.

The Elburn Seniors are planning to travel to Rhythm City in Davenport, Iowa, on March 11.

The bus will leave Lions Park, 500 Filmore St. in Elburn about 8 a.m. and return about 6 p.m. Cost is $28, which includes lunch and the bus transportation.

The Elburn seniors will be going to Meskwaki Casino in Iowa April 10 and 11. The price is $95 double occupancy, which includes one night hotel, bus fare, $40 back from the casino and $6 food credit. Leave Elburn Lions Park at 8 a.m. April 10 and return approximately 6 p.m. April 11.
