Musical celebration: Dundee-Crown Parents of Music Performers will host its third annual music celebration, "Music Changes Lives" from 1 to 4 p.m. March 9 at Boulder Ridge Country Club, 350 Boulder Drive, Lake in the Hills. D-C POMP is a nonprofit booster organization dedicated to the performing arts at Dundee-Crown High School.

This luncheon concert and silent auction will feature performances by the D-C Chamber Orchestra, Chorale, Jazz Band, and Honors Choir, as well as selections from the April production of "The Music Man." The master of ceremonies, Marc Beth, will present special guest performances by the high school music directors, Mark Bettcher and John Gorman.

In addition to the feast of musical talent, the silent auction and $500 cash prize raffle will benefit student music scholarships.

More than 400 students participate in the high school's music program, many of whom would otherwise be unable to enhance their music careers beyond regular instruction. Silent auction donations are gratefully accepted.

Luncheon performance reservations are $35 per person and $20 for students. Raffle tickets are $2 or six for $10; you need not be present to win. For reservations, donations, tickets or details, call Becky at (847) 836-6792.

Wright school hosts auction: The Gary D. Wright Elementary School PTO will hold its first-ever silent and live auction. This event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. March 15 at the school, 1500 Ketchum Road, Hampshire.

The theme is "Beyond the Bricks and Mortar … building technology … one bid at a time."

This promises to be a great event filled with entertainment, appetizers and auction items.

Advance ticket prices are $15 per person or $20 at the door. Proceeds from this event will benefit both the Gary D. Wright Elementary School students, through the purchase of classroom computers, as well as the Hampshire-Burlington Food Pantry. The public is welcome to donate items for the auction.

Call Kathi Carr at (847) 683-7393 for information or e-mail Marti Whitehouse at marti@foxvalley.net to order tickets.

"The Music Man": Dundee-Crown High School in Carpentersville has begun the process that will bring you "The Music Man" April 17-19. The delightful story of the con man salesman Harold Hill, who fools everybody but the intelligent town librarian Marian Paroo, includes all sorts of characters, cantankerous to painfully shy, is brimful of rousing music, from marches to love ballads, and sparks with the energy and enthusiasm of a talented and large cast.
