Chelios eager for 2010 Olympics

When the 2010 Olympics roll around in Vancouver and the USA hockey team names a captain, don't be surprised if it's Chris Chelios.

That would be 48-year-old Chris Chelios.

"I'm going to be honest, I would love to play in those Olympics," Chelios said Thursday on a USA Hockey conference call. "And if it's not as a player, I would hope it would be in some capacity, maybe as a coach or in management. But I would really love to be involved."

Chelios has played in the last four Olympics, and there's no reason to believe he couldn't make it five. Chelios already has said he hopes to play in the NHL until he's 50.

"It's a ways away still, and a lot can happen," Chelios said. "Physically, I feel great. I don't want to hold any young kid from getting a spot on the team, but by the same token, I'm not ready to give it up either."
