Endorsing Oberweis was wrong choice
I feel you endorsed the wrong person by giving Jim Oberweis the nod over Chris Lauzen in the 14th U.S. House District. You cited two general reasons for this endorsement.
One was that Lauzen has a spotty record in terms of relationships with colleagues, is viewed more as a voice in the wilderness and that he stands alone.
What do you guys want -- a lemming? Do you want another "yes" man in office who gets along with everyone? Chris stands alone because he is one of the few people that truly has a moral compass and he has the guts to follow it. You should be embracing this as an attribute not using as a negative.
Regarding legislation, he has effectively contributed to budget legislation, tax reform, education and immigration. He has truly trimmed the fat around town. Where are you getting your facts? He worked with me personally on tollway reform. He cares. He knows his stuff. He works hard. He's accessible, too.
Reason two was that you assume that since he runs a recognizable business, he will therefore be better prepared to give insight to our economical needs. That's a wrong assumption. One does not necessarily translate to the other.
And by the way, Oberweis didn't start the company. It was handed to him. Big difference. Chris started his own successful accounting practice and as a prudent accountant, he knows his numbers. He has effectively trimmed the fat when and where possible.
Furthermore, the milk man unfairly hammers Chris in debates, clearly twisting things and almost bullying the soft-spoken gentleman who is Chris Lauzen.
I, for one, am sick of bullies. Give me a kind, respectful person like Chris Lauzen who follows his instincts. Chris is the real deal. We have enough bullies and "yes" men in office.
