Mount Prospect man ticketed after car strikes ambulance

A 23-year-old Skokie man in a 1993 Honda Prelude drove into the side of a Wheeling Fire Department ambulance around 3:20 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Central Road and Main Street in Mount Prospect, police said.

Christopher Peyer, of the 7800 block of Kilbourne Ave., received citations for failing to yield to an authorized emergency vehicle and operation of an uninsured vehicle, police said.

The Honda was traveling south on Main Street in the curb lane, while the ambulance, with its lights flashing, also was traveling south on Main Street, Mount Prospect officer Dirk Ollech said.

The ambulance turned right westbound onto Central, carrying a male patient to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.

Peyer struck the ambulance as it turned in front of him onto Central Road, police said.

After the collision, a Mount Prospect fire department ambulance arrived and took the patient to Northwest Community Hospital.

There were no major injuries, Ollech said.
