Luncheon promotes healthy hearts
Centegra Health System invites women of all ages to its second annual Heart Strong Women Luncheon event where women are empowered to take control of their heart's health through knowledge.
The Centegra Heart Strong Women event is set from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Crystal Lake Holiday Inn, Route 31 and Three Oaks Road. Tickets are $10 per person.
Guests will learn more about the latest treatments and medical breakthroughs with heart disease and how the disease affects women differently than men.
The popular event will feature a heart-healthy lunch and a presentation by keynote speaker and female cardiologist, Dr. Irina Staicu, who will speak on "10 Tips to Save a Women's Heart."
Other highlights include interactive educational booths, valuable heart-risk screenings, an "Ask the Doctor" booth and a "Dance to a Healthy Heart" demonstration.
Women are encouraged to wear red to show their support for a healthy heart. Prizes will be awarded for the most creative "red wear."
"Heart disease kills more women than all cancers combined," said Sue Buchaklian, Director of Surgical Services for Centegra's Cardiology Department.
"The Heart Strong Women event gives women the opportunity to learn more about what they can do to take a stand against heart disease with a strong heart."
Limited childcare services will be provided on site by Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center on a first-come, first-serve basis. Reservations are required by calling 877-CENTEGRA (236-8347). Seating is limited and early registration is encouraged.
