Skokie man gets 46 months in drug sting

U.S. District Court Judge Harry Leinenweber sentenced a 30-year-old man to 46 months in prison Tuesday for dealing ecstasy at a Schaumburg mall.

"I'm just sorry for what I did," said Dejan Galic, 30, of Skokie to Leinenweber.

Galic was caught in a sting on May 6, 2004, after he handed over about 1,000 ecstasy pills to a man working undercover with police. In return, the man gave Galic $8,000. The exchange happened in the parking lot of a sporting goods store at 601 N. Martingale in Schaumburg.

The sentence was at the low end of recommended federal guidelines, and the judge granted it on the recommendation of assistant U.S. attorney Tyler C. Murray.

"I do sense that there is some genuine remorse here," Murray told the judge.

Robb Stokkar, Galic's attorney, said Galic had a rough childhood with a father who was overly severe and physically disciplined him.
