Schaumburg Twp. has gone dark blue
To the editor: A dramatic change in the political complexion of Schaumburg Township -- from red to blue -- happened in the Feb. 5 primary election. Just two years ago, the majority of voters (55 percent) registered as Republicans. This year, Democratic ballots exceeded Republican ballots by more that 2 to 1.
There are now nearly 17,000 registered Democrats in the township compared to just 7,600 Republicans, which makes this a dark blue township.
As Schaumburg Township Democratic committeeman, I welcome the former Independents and Republicans who registered as Democrats for the first time. Together we will carry this township in the fall for the Democratic ticket.
I invite all Democratic voters to get involved in the local Democratic Party to build on our success. Check our Web site, www.cchdem.org for more information.
Voters have turned to the Democrats for reform. In registering as Democrats, seven out of 10 voters said it's time for a change.
