CLC to put on 'The Importance of Being Earnest'
Oscar Wilde's "The Importance of Being Earnest" will be presented by the College of Lake County Theatre Department this weekend and next in the Studio Theatre of the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts on the Grayslake campus.
The show will be presented Friday through Sunday and from Feb. 28 through March 1.
Wilde's comedy follows the antics of two bachelors as they pursue true love. Both men take the alias of "Ernest" in order to capture the hearts of two young ladies who are convinced they could never love anyone who was not named Ernest.
When the men discover that maintaining double identities is more challenging than they expected, comic mayhem ensues.
The play is directed by Craig Rich and the technical director is Thomas B. Mitchell.
The two male leads -- who both disguise themselves as "Ernest" -- are played by Bill Roberts and Dave Vasicek, two CLC acting students who have worked together since 2005. Roberts, of Libertyville, has acted in nine CLC productions. Vasicek, of Wauconda, has acted in five CLC shows.
The cast consists of Dave Vasicek of Wauconda as John Worthing, Bill Roberts of Libertyville as Algernon Moncrieff, Thomas Ogilvie of Gurnee as Rev. Chasuble, John Stergiou of Gurnee as Lane and Merriman, Sharon Aiello of Barrington as Lady Bracknell, Jennifer Neumann of Antioch as Gwendolyn Fairfax, Kellie PiƱa of Gurnee as Cecily Cardew and Elizabeth Cooper of Gurnee as Miss Prism.
The show will be presented on at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and Feb. 28 and 29. The show begins at 2 p.m. on Sunday and March 1.
Tickets are $10 each for the general public and $8 for CLC students, staff and seniors. Tickets are available at the CLC Box Office in the James Lumber Center on the Grayslake campus, 19351 W. Washington St.
