• The family Read-Aloud Book Club, through April 9. Families who register will keep track of their time spent reading, and earn special reading rewards and entries into prize drawings at the same time. Receive your family book log and details during registration at the ASK ME Desk.

• Kindergarten Readiness "Land of the Letter People" through May. Your child must be eligible to attend kindergarten this fall in order to enroll in this class. The 15 classes will be held on Tuesdays from 10 to 10:45 a.m. There is a $25 material fee.

Batavia:
• "The Bridge of San Luis Rey" by Thornton Wilder will be discussed at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. In Peru, five people fall to their deaths when a tiny footbridge breaks. A humble monk who witnesses the tragedy yearns to understand why. Was this divine intervention or fate? This book won the 1928 Pulitzer Prize; the first of three for Wilder.
• Anime/Manga Club meets at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 12 and at 7 p.m. Jan. 23 for teens ages 13 and older. Registration is not required. Call Lee Blakley (630) 879-4777.
• The Great Decisions Discussion Group will focus on South Africa at 7 p.m. Jan. 16. Registration is required for this series based on a guide from the Foreign Policy Assoc. Great Decisions examines the global challenges affecting our lives today. The series continues through May.
• Homebound Delivery Service, for library cardholders who are homebound due to illness or infirmity. Books and other library materials are delivered to the Holmstad, Riverrain, and Heritage Woods senior living complexes every two weeks. For information, call (630) 879-1393, ext. 340.

• EBay selling 101 at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the meeting room. Jack Waddick is an eBay trained instructor who has helped thousands become savvy ebay sellers. He presents a detailed action plan for eBay selling success.
Great Decisions 2008: Cooperative program of the Geneva, Batavia and St. Charles Public Libraries. The Great Decisions is intended to stimulate discussion of foreign policy issues. Participants must pick up a copy of the Great Decisions guide before the discussion and are expected to attend prepared to discuss the issue for the program. • 2nd Tuesday Book Discussions at 10 a.m. Tuesday to discuss "Trespass" by Valerie Martin and at 7 p.m. to discuss "The Piano Tuner" by Daniel Mason.
• Lyric Opera Lectures at 7 p.m. Tuesday for "Falstaff" by Giuseppe Verdi. Each program is presented by a member of the Lyric Opera Lecture Corps.
Town and Country:
• Read to Succeed reading program sponsored by the Chicago Wolves through Feb. 2. This program is open to students of all ages who have a valid library card. Each reader can earn one of the following prizes: Wolves game ticket, Wolves cap, Wolves T-shirt, Wolves book bag, Wolves toy ice machine or Wolves notebook.
• The Friends of the Town & Country Public Library, held a raffle Dec. 22 for an Empress Sissy Barbie, donated by Frances Kitz of Elburn. The winner was Tania Miller of Elburn. All proceeds benefited the library.
