Bus driver charged in death of W. Chicago man
A bus driver has been charged with four counts of negligent homicide after prosecutors say tests determined he had amphetamines in his system at the time of a crash that killed four people, including a West Chicago man, in Arkansas.
Prosecutor Fletcher Long says, if convicted, Felix Tapia of Brownsville, Texas, would face up to 10 years in prison on each count.
Tapia was driving the Tornado Bus carrying 47 people from Chicago to Dallas when it crossed an Interstate 40 median Nov. 25 and hit a pickup truck.
Bus passenger Raul Lopez of West Chicago was among those killed.
