Nominate a Lake in the Hills business for award

The village of Lake in the Hills' Business Relations Committee will consider applications for the semi-annual Gordon Larsen Business Achievement Award at the Jan. 15 meeting.

The deadline to submit nomination forms for consideration is Thursday.

Gordon Larsen and his family moved to Lake in the Hills in 1963. As a resident, he was influential in shaping the physical and civic landscape of Lake in the Hills.

His many accomplishments and acts of generosity include the establishment of the Larsen Industrial Park, the donation of Dome Hill, his service as a charter member of the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Rotary Club, his involvement in the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Chamber of Commerce and his service on the economic development commission.

In the spirit of Gordon Larsen, the village of Lake in the Hills' Business Relations Committee created an award in his honor that recognizes local businesses for their contributions to the community.

Previous recipients have been: Govnor's Public House, Lake in the Hills Bank, Butcher on the Block, Caribou Coffee, Papa Saverio's Pizzeria, ABC School of Nail Technology/Sugar and Spice Parties and Spa, Northern Illinois Flight Center, Delta Chiropractic, the Property Owners Association and Joy Community Christian Children's Center.

The selected candidate will be honored with a commemorative plaque at the Feb. 14 board of trustees meeting. The business selected will have a feature article in the Messenger newsletter mailed to all Lake in the Hills residents and will be recognized in a variety of village events.

If your business is new or well established, if you have experienced significant growth, are a major employer or have been active in the community, the village encourages you to recognize your business through submitting a nomination.

Residents are also encouraged to participate through acknowledging local businesses that show commitment to quality and customer service.

Applications are available at the village hall or on the village's Web site, www.lith.org. Complete the form and return it to the address listed. Be sure to include contact information, as the committee may require further details to complete their determination.
