5 high school students honored as good citizens
The Ansel Brainerd Cook Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, will honor the following high school seniors as recipients of the DAR Good Citizens Award. The faculty of each high school selected a winner who demonstrates the qualities of a good citizen in their homes, schools and communities with the emphasis on dependability, service, leadership and patriotism.
The DAR Good Citizens recipients for the 2007-08 school year are:
• Emma Schultz, Adlai E. Stevenson High School
• Kiersten Trillhaase, Carmel Catholic High School
• Lisa Branding, Libertyville High School
• Carina Gonzalez, Mundelein High School
• Irene Ginakakis, Vernon Hills High School
Four of the students participated in the optional scholarship contest and submitted essays, a listing of activities and awards, school transcripts, letters of recommendation, and a description of how they incorporate the qualities of a good citizen in their lives.
The Ansel Brainerd Cook Chapter will honor the five recipients at an awards program in February.
