Following his dream

The Aurora Public Art Commission will sponsor a showing of The Art of David John Simcik from Feb. 1 through March 16 in the third-floor gallery at 20 E. Downer Place, Aurora.

A free opening reception is scheduled from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 1. Regular gallery hours are noon to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays with a suggested donation of $3 for adults and $1.50 for seniors and students.

Simcik is a cartographer, graphic designer, photographer and Web designer. In the spring of 2002 he began pursuing his lifelong dream to become a painter.

Portraiture became his special interest, working from photographs and life.
