Limelight Cafe for adults held Jan. 26
After five years of the popular teen Limelight Café, and, most recently, the successful second annual Little Limelight for second- through eighth-graders, the Village of Buffalo Grove Arts Commission has announced "Talkin' About My Generation: Limelight Cafe-All Grown Up!" for talented adults in the community. Musicians, comedians, magicians, and others are welcome to perform from 8 to 10:30 p.m. Jan. 26 at the Alcott Center, 530 Bernard Dr. in Buffalo Grove, in partnership with the Buffalo Grove Park District. To sign up to perform, or for information, e-mail BGArts@vbg.org or call (847) 459-2518; or just come that night to enjoy the evening of home-grown entertainment and desserts. Admission is $8 or $15 for two people.
Artwork proposals now being accepted
The village of Buffalo Grove is accepting proposals for artwork, such as a sculpture or fountain, to enrich the village and enhance the municipal complex located at Lake-Cook Road and Raupp Boulevard. A copy of the specifications approved by the village board at their Dec. 3 meeting can be found on the village's Web site at www.vbg.org.
All proposals should include photographs or sketches of the proposed artwork; each artist may submit up to five proposals. A contract will be considered based on quality of the artwork, representation of the Village and community, durability, aesthetic appeal, uniqueness and references. Artists interested in submitting a proposal should review the specifications and complete the application by Feb. 8. Questions may be directed to Ghida Neukirch, (847) 459-2518 or gneukirch@vbg.org.
