Sink the Wauconda pool referendum

I am writing to you to express my opinion on the Wauconda pool referendum.

No pool. The pool issue has prevailed for 40 years. We have a beautiful lake -- use the lake! I have for all of my life. I have enjoyed Bangs Lake for many years.

The money collected thus far for the pool should be put into beach maintenance for the lake.

Why should we pay $12 million for something only a few will use, and only seasonally? This is yet another burden on the taxpayers of Wauconda, especially for the seniors and first-time home owners.

Our public beaches closed many years ago because of high insurance rates. Are those figured into the $12 million? Each homeowner would have to contribute over $200 per year to pay for a summer frolic.

After 40 years of struggling without much community support and with very little money accumulated in that time, why are we re-addressing this issue?

If we will be on water restrictions permanently in our village, why are we even considering a swimming pool? Why just an outdoor facility? Wouldn't there be more usage if there were an indoor pool (i.e., high school swim team, water aerobics, etc.)?

Please vote no for a pool and do not raise our taxes; we have years left to pay for the schools.

Go to Hawthorn Woods or Mundelein if you need a water park; I do not feel it necessary that every town has one.
