• Embrace creativity --Celebrate International Creativity Month at 1:30 p.m. today with a program by Laura Thoma of Thoma Designs, "Embracing Your Creative Side."
Learning and understanding the Seven Stages of Creativity demystifies the creative process, while teaching audience members how to avoid self-sabotage.
Embracing and applying the Seven Stages can benefit professional and personal lives. Thoma is a dancer with musical theater and a visual artist.
• Get organized -- At 3 p.m. Wednesday, stop by the Senior Apartment Building, 1105 W. Bartlett Road, for a presentation by Elizabeth Fuchs, CPO and owner of Organized to Perfection, "How to Organize Your Home and Paperwork."
The presentation covers tools and tips on organizing home items and home office paperwork. Learn how to maintain this space and keep it organized through the year.
There will be handouts, visuals and time for questions and answers.
• Piano performance -- at 3 p.m. Friday, entertainer Bob Kurtz of Elgin performs on the piano. Bob is the original Shakey's Pizza piano performer who led sing-alongs all over the Chicago area.
Kurtz also belonged to the first Dixieland band of the Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles. Refreshments will be served.
• "Souper Bowl" lunch -- From noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, celebrate the upcoming Super Bowl with a "Souper Bowl" Kick Off lunch at the Senior Apartment Building, 1105 W. Bartlett Road.
Enjoy a hot bowl of soup and visit the new senior living community. Following the lunch at 2 p.m. is a special program in honor of National Folk Music and Dancing Month.
Elmhurst entertainer Carmelina Impellizzeri will lead a tribute to international music, singing in multiple languages and performing folk music on the keyboards.
• Fiddling Club performs -- In honor of National Folk Music and Dancing Month, Bartlett High School orchestra director Tom Havel and his Fiddling Club perform at 4 p.m. Jan. 30.
The hoe down will include square dance numbers that participants can join in.
• Drumming circle -- At 10 a.m. Jan. 31, join a drumming circle led by music therapist Rita Lopienski in honor of Celebration of Life Month.
Learn about the history and culture of exotic drums from around the world, experiencing firsthand how playing the drums can enhance self-expression and creativity.
Drums are provided, and all ages are welcome.
• Stay healthy -- Start the new year with fitness resolutions by joining in Staying Healthy Month.
Take part in January classes, featuring Hawaiian dance and yoga at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday.
Kathleen Murrell of Addison will lead Hawaiian dance on Jan. 29, and Theresa Montesano of Bartlett leads Thursday morning yoga.
