Briefs: Aurora liquor sting

Aurora police, with assistance from department cadets, staged an undercover operation this week to check compliance with alcohol sales laws. The under-age cadets tried to buy liquor at 13 stores, restaurants and taverns. The businesses in violation were: Miss Lee's, 200 block of East Galena Boulevard; Huka Lounge, 0-100 block of West New York Street; Paso Restaurant, 0-100 block of South Lincoln Avenue; Muddy Duck, 0-100 block of South Stolp Avenue; and Rito's Mexican Restaurant, 3400 block of Montgomery Road. Employees of the establishments in violation were charged with unlawful sale of alcohol to a minor and were served with notices to appear in court. The violations also were brought to the attention of the city clerk for a possible liquor commission hearing.

Edward receives grant

Edward Hospital in Naperville has been awarded a $50,000 grant by The Chicago Community Trust to expand a study of how wellness affects the health and retention of nurses and other employees. Edward already is studying how its wellness programs affect retention of nurses older than 45. The grant will allow nurses younger than 45 to be added to the study, as well as other employee groups that experience high turnover in the industry.
