Men attempt to rob clothing store
Police are questioning one man and searching for three others after the attempted robbery of a Crystal Lake clothing store Monday.
Police responded to Nobedades Veracruz, 457 Virginia St., around 2:54 p.m. after a report of an attempted robbery with possible shots fired, Crystal Lake Deputy Chief Dennis Harris said.
Police were told there were four men who went into the store and tried to rob it, Harris said. Three of the men fled in a white, four-door vehicle that was possibly a Toyota.
A fourth man who wasn't able to get into the vehicle before it took off was taken into custody, Harris said. He fell and was treated at the scene for that minor injury, Harris said.
Police declined to release the man's name, pending criminal charges. The man was expected to be charged late Monday, Harris said.
Police ask that anyone who was in vicinity of Route 14 and Dole Avenue around 3 p.m. who saw or heard anything unusual to call Crystal Lake police at (815) 356-3620 or to call Crime Stoppers at 800-726-STOP (7867).
