Briefs: Sting nets 75 stops

A recent traffic enforcement sting by Aurora police resulted in 53 citations, officials said. On Friday, police set up the operation at Indian Trail and Lake Street, the city's third-highest intersection for traffic crashes, police say. In 2007, 80 accidents were reported there. During the sting, 75 vehicles were stopped, with citations given for various infractions. Aside from the tickets, 13 warnings were given, 13 people were arrested and six outstanding warrants were served in a seven-hour period. Similar operations will continue in the area, police said.

Addison Lions give $2,500

The Addison Lions Club donated $2,500 to the Friends of the Addison Public Library to help fund construction of the village's new library, set to open this summer. The Friends are conducting a fundraiser that allows companies, organizations and individuals to name areas of the new library in recognition of their financial support. To recognize the Lions, a plaque will be placed by the drinking fountain in the new facility. Oak Brook chamber event

The Greater Oak Brook Chamber of Commerce will present its first State of Greater Oak Brook Corporate Community Forum from 7:45 to 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at the Oak Brook Bath and Tennis Club Corporate Meeting Place, 800 Oak Brook Road. The chamber will present five Corporate Community Forums in 2008. The forums are meant to keep Greater Oak Brook businesses connected to each other and government leaders. For Wednesday's event, Gary Beban, senior executive managing director of CB Richard Ellis and Heisman Trophy winner, will be the keynote speaker. Public art contest open

The Naperville Art League is inviting the public to enter its fourth annual competition by submitting an original work interpreting the theme "Close-Up." Entries will be accepted from noon to 4 p.m. any Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday between March 1-15 at the Naperville Art League, 508 N. Center St., Naperville. Awards will be given, with $350 for best of show and $100 for the winner in each of three categories: kindergarten through eighth-grade, high school and college students, and adults.
