Wheaton basement fire under investigation
Wheaton firefighters still are trying to determine what triggered a Saturday afternoon blaze in the 1000 block of North President Street, authorities said Monday.
No one was injured in the incident.
Firefighters were called at 12:20 p.m. after smoke was reported coming from the basement of the home.
Officials said the fire was brought under control within 15 minutes, but not before it damaged the basement and caused smoke damage throughout the residence.
Investigators from the Wheaton Fire Department, along with the DuPage Fire Investigation Task Force, were called to the scene.
