Nicky Garcia was worth honoring

I just happened to see the article that was printed prior to the dedication in the park in South Elgin. The article referenced that a boy who was reported as taking his own life should not have been included in the dedication.

I understand the loss of a child, because I lost my 19-year-old daughter to a car accident. When I hear of the passing of a child, the first thing that comes to mind is the grieving procedure that the parents go through. No matter how you address the issue as to the cause of death, the child is gone.

I believe that a lot could have been said about Nicky Garcia that was not said, which would be reason for the city of South Elgin to honor Nicky. As an organ donor, Nicky's death saved the lives of many people. Under any other condition, Nicky would have been considered a hero. In my eyes Nicky is a hero, and just maybe that was God's intentions for Nicky.

Nicky is loved by so many and remembered by so many, which is a reflection of what type of life he did live.

In my heart, I believe Nicky is with God and his family and friends. So a small little area honoring a wonderful child is not too much to ask for. May be we should start to look at each other for the good rather than the bad.
