Vernon Hills bank robbed
Vernon Hills police and FBI agents are searching for a man who robbed a Bank of America branch Tuesday evening.
Sgt. Kevin Grampo of the Vernon Hills police said a man walked into the branch on the 500 block of Townline Road in Vernon Hills at 5:10 p.m. Tuesday and handed the teller a note requesting money.
The man also implied to the teller he had an explosive device, but Grampo said the device was not shown and it was unclear what kind of device was implied.
After getting money from the teller, Grampo said the man fled in a southwestern direction, toward Toys 'R' Us located in the same strip mall.
Grampo said, despite some reports, it remains unclear if the suspect entered a vehicle or fled the area on foot.
He is described as being 30 to 40 years old with a small build, standing between 5-feet, 4-inches tall to 5-feet, 7-inches tall.
He was wearing white painters pants with paint stains, a brown jacket, a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses.
Anyone with any information is urged to contact the Vernon Hills Police at (847) 362-4449.
