RMHS food drive brings in more than 1,200 pounds

Student Council members of Rolling Meadows High School conducted a very successful food drive at the school from Nov. 9-20. More than 1,200 pounds of food were collected in all, to be distributed to local community members under the auspices of the Rolling Meadows Rotary Club.

In conjunction with the drive, the Student Council held a friendly, optional competition between the 90 seminars in the school, each with roughly 25 students. Food was also collected from other areas of the school such as the main office, attendance office, and young adult program.

The winner was the group whose collection weighed the most: the attendance office, with an impressive bounty of 376 pounds of food.

"I am impressed by the overall generosity of the students and staff at RMHS," said Amanda Thomas, Student Council sponsor.

"It is a great accomplishment to provide our local families with an opportunity to share a holiday meal."
