He vowed 'change' not 'more of same'

We could not agree more with Rev. Denise Griebler's Fence Post letter to the president. Unquestionably, Barack Obama was faced with an incredibly difficult problem, but he must rethink his decision to send more troops to Afghanistan.

It is the wrong path to peace and security. It will only embolden Taliban recruiting and Afghanistan government corruption, increase the number of war victims - deceased and wounded combatants, civilians, and orphans - in all countries involved, further embolden our already bloated "defense" establishment, further delay the decades-long overdue rebuilding of our own infrastructure, and plunge us further into debt.

Candidate Obama promised us "Change We Can Believe In" not "More of the Same." It is time to change history by resolving conflicts using a vast array of creative nonviolent engagements with our friends and enemies.
