Allstate authorizes stock buy-back

NORTHBROOK -- Allstate Corp., the largest publicly traded U.S. auto and home insurer, authorized a $2 billion share repurchase program, the company said in a news release Tuesday. Also, Allstate said Chief Financial Officer Dan Hale, 63, plans to retire March 31. Allstate is considering internal and external candidates to replace him, the company said.
